5DS R vs. 1DX & 1DX MK II Combination. Jan 18, 2017. Hi, Would like other's opinions here that are experienced with the 1DX (MKII) and 5DS R relevant to upgrading a kit for Fashion Week. For years I've used 1DX's and then when the 1DX MKII came out, I now shoot runway fashion with a 1DX with a f/4 24-70 for backstage and step and repeat shots
The 1Dx's AF system is noticeable "snappier" than the 1D4, and the 1D4 is in my opinion more accurate than the 5D3. Either way, 1Dx or 1D4, the outer points rarely miss, even at wide apertures. That's the difference between the 1D/1Ds lines and the other lines.

Here, in my view, are the video differences: -C-Log: the 5D mark iv can be upgraded to include C-Log as an option, which isn't in the cards at this point for the 1DX mark ii. -4K crop: the 1dx mk ii has a 4k crop factor of 1.3x, whereas the 5D mark iv has a 4k crop factor of 1.74x or something.
